These statements reflect Ambassador Anwarul Karim Chowdhury's general perspective on the importance of multilateralism, the role of international organizations like the United Nations, and the need for inclusive and sustainable approaches in addressing global challenges.

  1. Multilateralism is Essential: In a globalized world, challenges like climate change, poverty, and conflict are too complex for any single nation to address alone. Multilateral efforts, where nations collaborate through international platforms, are crucial for sustainable and peaceful solutions.

  2. Importance of the United Nations: The United Nations serves as a vital global platform for facilitating multilateral cooperation. Its unique position enables it to gather nations to discuss and tackle global issues, promoting peace, security, and development.

  3. Need for Reform in the UN System: While the United Nations plays a critical role in global governance, there is a recognized need for reforms to enhance its effectiveness and representativeness. This includes making the organization more transparent, accountable, and democratic.

  4. Focus on Peace and Security: Peace and security are fundamental for the sustainability of development and human rights efforts. The role of international organizations in conflict resolution and peacekeeping is therefore pivotal. Most importantly the effective and active engagement of women in peace processes leads to long term sustainable peace.

  5. Promotion of a Culture of Peace: Beyond the absence of war, a "culture of peace" encompasses respect for human rights, freedom, and dialogue. International bodies are seen as key in fostering this culture globally.

  6. Inclusivity in Global Governance: Effective global governance requires the inclusion of all stakeholders, not just governments. This includes civil society, the private sector, and other non-state actors, whose involvement enhances the legitimacy and impact of international actions.

  7. Emphasis on Sustainable Development: Sustainable development is integral and interconnected with peace and security. The role of international organizations in promoting and implementing global agendas for progress, like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is crucial.

  8. Empowerment of Marginalized Groups: There is a significant focus on empowering marginalized groups in the global agenda. Prioritizing gender equality and the rights of children is seen as essential in the activities of international organizations.
